Building on the success of Twin it! 3D for Europe’s Culture (June 2023 - June 2024), and in line with the objectives of the European Commission Recommendation on a common European data space for cultural heritage (2021), the Twin it! Part II campaign (June 2025 - June 2026) is continuing to support Member States in their 3D digitisation and preservation efforts. The campaign has a strengthened focus on the intended reuse of digitised heritage assets.
In Twin it! Part II, EU Ministries of Culture have been invited to collaborate with their national cultural institutions to submit at least one high-quality 3D digitised heritage asset to the data space, accompanied by clear reuse intent and enriched with additional data, paradata and metadata. The aim is to collect and showcase unique 3D examples of Europe’s cultural heritage, highlighting how Member States plan to make practical and innovative use of their digitised assets.
Twin it! Part II places a stronger emphasis on the cross-sector reuse of heritage data, aligning closely with the data space strategy for 2025 - 2030, which prioritises increased reuse. In doing so, the campaign continues to build Member States’ capacities for purposeful 3D digitisation and encourages new forms of pan-European collaboration and innovation.
Celebrating the conclusion of the campaign
Twin it! Part II will conclude with a series of three complementary events, highlighting the campaign’s achievements and exploring future opportunities for 3D digitisation and reuse of 3D heritage assets.

The celebrations will begin with a high-level political closing event in Brussels on 12 May, organised by the Europeana Initiative and the European Commission under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The ministerial event (by invitation only) will bring together Ministers of Culture, who will showcase their Member States’ contributions to the campaign and share their vision for the reuse of the submitted assets.

This will be followed by a Twin it! Part II Policy Roundtable on the intersection of 3D and Artificial Intelligence, taking place on 26 May 2026 in Limassol as part of the Digital Heritage Summit 2026, hosted by the Cyprus University of Technology, UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage. The discussion will explore how advanced 3D digitisation can contribute to the European Union’s policy priorities, notably the Apply AI strategy. Registrations are now open!

The campaign will conclude with Hackit!4EU,a dedicated hackathon taking place on 27 - 28 May 2026 in Limassol, also hosted by the Cyprus University of Technology, UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage as part of the Digital Heritage Summit 2026. In line with the campaign’s focus on reuse, the event will bring together creatives, developers, students, educators, researchers, and cultural heritage and tourism professionals to explore innovative and imaginative ways to reuse the collected 3D assets.
